More technical information and standards can be found at www.gaugeone.org
Please continue to watch this page. There may be additionals or alterations to the rules depending on what feedback we get. Changes in blue.

Track Dimensions
- Board length 4300mm
- Board width 2440mm
- Curve radius 1125mm
- Track length 11m
The rules for the Challenge are:
- Locomotive is to be equipped with a Safety Valve and a Boiler Pressure Gauge.
- Maximum Boiler Pressure shall be 50 psi.
- May be fired by any fuel.
- Must have a Boiler Certificate From YOUR home club. No boiler testing will be undertaken at the convention.
- Locomotive may be to any prototype or free lance.
- Locomotive must be hand built by the entrant.
- Entries will be accepted from clubs or individuals. The actual Les Moore challenge is an inter-club challenge. We will put up a trophy for individual entrants if there is sufficient interest.
Judging will be on a point system comprising the following:-
25% - Appearance.
25% - Minimum time from "firing to movement" from cold. Hands must be away from the loco during this test. Single cylinder engines will need to be positioned away from dead centres before the test starts. Movement doesn't have to be continuous movement, just the first movement. That is it doesn't matter if the loco stops again on the next dead centre.
25% - Maximum time to travel 36 feet from hot without stopping. This is a controlled low speed test. The engine is to run light i.e. not to pull any train.
25% - Maximum drawbar pull @ maximum pressure. No ballast weights permitted. This will be a static test using something like a spring balance attached to a fixed point.
Entries close October 31st 2009.
We have purchased 36 feet of track and will have it mounted in an oval shape on three sheets of board. The competition will take place on that board.
